International Dental Conference

International Dental Conference “Urgent Issues in Dentistry” and Open session of the Ministry of Health Care of Ukraine Coordination Council on Dentistry were held in the Cinema House (Kyiv, Ukraine) March 17-19, 2010. The topic was “Main Principles of State Policy Concerning National Medical Dentistry Products and Support of National Producer”.

The Ministry of Health Care of Ukraine, the Stomatology Institute of NMAPE (National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P. Shupik) and Dental Science and Clinic Center “STAMIL” organized the Conference.

Several theoretical and practical sessions, namely “Therapeutic Dentistry: the Strategy and Tactics of Complications Treatment”, “Orthopedic Dentistry and Implantology. The Strategy and Tactics of complications Treatment”, as well as “Law & Marketing in Dentistry. Enhancement of Dental Practice Efficiency” were organized and conducted within the 3-day Conference, which had more than 200 participants from different countries.

Sergii Antonov, the Director of Medical Law Center, was the moderator and main speaker of the section “Law & Marketing in Dentistry. Enhancement of Dental Practice Efficiency”. His reports “The Tactics of Conflict Settlement with Patients in Dental Practice” and “The Peculiarities of Labour Relations and Staff Records Management in Medical Dental Institutions” provoked intense interest. Sergii Antonov told about legal and juridical practice of conflict settlement with patients unsatisfied with the quality of medical services. Namely, about last “high-profile cases” in dentistry, which dealt with the UAH 400,000 and UAH 1,200,000 claims, and criminal suits against dentists. Sergii Antonov stated the peculiarities of Refund Agreements with “consumer-killers”. He also made an accent on aspects of temporary labour relations with dentists, as well as employment of foreign specialists.
